Empire of Nicaea in 1255 by woodsman2b Empire of Nicaea in 1255 by woodsman2b
1204 AD. The unthinkable happened. The Imperial Capital, Constantinople, has fallen.
The Crusaders, led by the Republic of Venice, stormed over the City.
Civil War, Crusades and Commercial Rivalry... All of these factors have contributed to Byzantium's demise.
But everything is not lost... 3 Greek-Roman states have emerged and challenge the supremacy of the Latins.

Amongst them, the Empire of Nicaea. It has resisted the Latins and the Turks and its rulers want to take Constantinople back.
But who will seize the big prize ? The Nicaeans, the Epirotes, the Bulgarians, Trebizond ?

In 1255, Nicaeans rule over most of the old empire and are closing on the ancient capital built by Constantin the Great...

What periods are you planning to consider now? Did you do any about the expansions of Nikephoros Phokas, John Tzimizes and Basil II?

Yes, for these emperors I made the maps of the Empire in 950, 1000 and 1025.
And for the last 5 maps, it will be (if I find some resources) in 650 after the beginning of the Arab conquest,
in 750 (one century after), in 1176 before the battle of Myriokephalon, in 1300 before the campaigns of Bulgaria,
in 1400 when Thessaloniki is for the first time under Ottoman control.
